Ask a new question. Randomly, when using the Netflix app or Edge to stream Netflix, using the High video quality setting, the entire PC will lock up.
No error, nothing in events. Hard reset only option. Temps for the CPU never exceed degrees water cooled. GPU never exceeds 77 degrees, although in the instance of the freezes, the GPU temps are usually 45 degrees. The system is running extremely stable and working just fine, when not running Netflix in the aforementioned manner. The issue is massively intermittent. This morning, the same test ran for 2 mins before locking up the PC. Nothing different, apart from a fresh boot.
Running Netflix at Medium video quality settings does not result in this issue. System performance temps, etc between High and Medium are negligible. Was this reply helpful? Ran the command, restarted, signed back in and will try again, though I just had AIDA64 running stress on CPU, cache, GPU, etc whilst Netflix app was streaming and it worked for almost 3 hours before I stopped it and looked at your post.
The random aspect of this is the most puzzling. So far, the problem manifests in Edge and Netflix app in Windows I don't have an issue on Chrome and I haven't tried on Mozilla. No problem. On Chrome, it drops down to p, so it could well be an issue with Silverlight streaming higher quality. To test this, I'm going to drop the quality to Standard in the app and retest. Update, after several sessions in usage, I believe that the lock up only occurs when the 'High' video setting is in place on the Netflix app.
With 'Standard' set, I've run for hours without issue. Switch back to 'High' and a lock occurs within minutes. Ran for some time without issue using Standard quality. Put it to High, locked the PC within minutes. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Search the community and support articles Windows Windows 10 Search Community member. Hi Mr What is the make and model of the motherboard? Could you confirm if this also happens in the default Administrator account? Try launching Netflix again. Also, can you confirm if this also happens in Chrome or Mozilla Firefox? How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to Mr Plowjoy's post on February 6, Same on Edge. I have the exact same issue on my Intel NUC7i5. This all started about two weeks ago for me, running any 4K videos crashes Netflix and Edge. Running p content works without a hitch, I've kinda had this problem at least two timestbefore but that was all resolved with a BIOS update both times.
